Diocesan Rosary Carnival Holds at Sabogidda-Ora
The 2013 Catholic Diocese of Auchi Rosary Carnival, has taken place at St. Theresa Catholic Church Sabogidda-Ora, an Out Station of St. Joseph Parish Eme-Ora.
Delivering the homily at the closing Mass, the Bishop of the Diocese Most Rev. (Dr) Gabriel G. Dunia who noted that the event was to enable faithful and all present reflect on the role of Mother Mary in the Church, pointed out that the occasion was an important one among the events in the Diocese, and stressed that as the Mother of the Church, Mary is the Mother of God, because Jesus Christ is the head of the Church, adding that all Christians as His body.
Continuing, the Chief Shepherd of the Diocese, pointed out that Mother Mary is the Mother of the Church even before it was proclaimed, as she accepted to give birth to Jesus when the Angel visited her, affirming that accepting such a responsibility was an act of her humility and added that anyone who wish to achieve success in his/her endeavour, must be humble at all time.
The prelate reiterated the need for all Catholics to always honour Mother Mary at all time, stressing that anyone who refuses to honour her Mother is not serious with his endeavour. He noted that Jesus was the first to honour and obey His Mother when he performed the first miracle at the wedding in Canaan, adding that Jesus also honour her Mother on the cross and affirmed that through the intercession of the Mother Mary their prayers will be answered, as She is always ready to carry their prayers and petitions to Jesus Christ who is the Son of God the Saviour of the world.
The Shepherd of Souls enjoined all to continue to pray for consecrated men and women and all who are struggling to know God, noting that praying to God in humility and obedience to His commandment will enable them receive answers to their prayers, as all that they have and willing to know are from God, adding that as the world is growing daily in science and technology, many are making use of it wrong and tasked all present to learn how to make positive use of those technology to the glory of God.
Further, the homilist hinted that God who created all things for good of man, is expecting man to make use of them positively. While tasking them to always learn to listen to the voice of God as the Holy Spirit is available to direct them and make them clean to receive the blessings, Bishop Dunia urged them to shun pride and materialism, as it will distant them from the blessings of God.
Speaking on the importance of faith in the life of Christians, the Pastor of Souls noted that faith is one of the most important things required of a Christian, pointing out that though Hope, Love are important, when they have faith in God, all thing will be possible. He charged faithful to desist from the habit of running from one Church to the other in search of superficial miracle, affirming that the greatest problem of a Christian is faithlessness and prayed God to grant them faith to enable them receive His blessings.
More, the Bishop enjoined all present not to lose faith in God, while praying God through the intercession of Blessed Virgin Mary to will answer their prayers.
Giving the vote of thanks, the host Priest Rev. Fr. James Anelu who appreciated God for the success of the event, commended the Chief Shepherd of the Diocese Most Rev. (Dr) Gabriel G. Dunia, for giving them the opportunity to host the event and praised the Governor of Edo State, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole for donating three buses to the Diocese to convey faithful to and fro to the programme. Also, Rev. Fr. Anelu praised the Priest, Religious and all present for attending the celebration and prayed God to grant them journey mercy back home.
Highpoint of the celebration were thanksgiving procession by the various denaries and all present, a procession round major routes of Sabogidda-Ora town, Benediction, presentation of talks by Rev. Frs. Innocent Okhifo and Chrisogonus Okolie among others.
