Bishop Dunia Task faithful On Catholic Doctrines
As Catholics marked the feast of Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary into heaven recently, the Catholic Bishop of Auchi Diocese, Most Rev. (Dr.) Gabriel G. Dunia has reiterated the need for faithful to uphold Catholic Doctrines, stressing that the Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary is one of the feasts a true Catholic should observe.
This was contained in his homily delivered on the Solemnity of Assumption of Blessed Virgin Mary into heaven at Immaculate Conception Cathedral, Auchi.
The Chief Shepherd of the Diocese noted that the feast of Assumption is a dogma of the Church, stressing that dogma is a doctrine of the Church that are officially approved after many prayer, signs and revelations and have been chosen to be true, adding that the Church proclaim such dogma not to please anybody, but to continue to praise and appreciate God for His glory.
Continuing, the Shepherd of Souls who hinted that no one can protest against such dogma, as no one can change what God has revealed, affirmed that such Solemnity should be celebrated by all faithful hence it is to celebrate the Mother of God who accepted to do the will of God in all sincerity. The Bishop however frowned at the attitude of faithful who does not take such a celebration seriously.
Speaking on the importance of faith in the life of a Christian, the Local Ordinary hinted that faith is a supernatural gift from God which enables one to believe without doubting what God has revealed, pointed out that Mother Mary was a woman of faith when she accepted to give birth to Christ in humility and urged Catholics to continue to put their faith in God and remain unwavering in their faith, as it would enable them appreciate the wonders of God.
Further, the Bishop pointed out that Mary did not consider herself to be of high quality, noting that it is God who has made her so and also stressed that failure to acknowledge her for her humility and love would amount to total disregard of God who made her a woman that is full of grace and enjoined Catholics to always honour Mary as she is the Mother of Jesus Christ.
More, the Shepherd of Souls who lamented the attitude of Christians who use the name of Jesus Christ for trade and businesses, enjoined all present not to drift away from their faith, stressing that they should always endeavour to embark on Novena passionately to appreciate God for what He has done for mankind, while urging all present to always pray through the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
