Diocesan CWO Marks 10th Anniversary At Auchi
The Joy of Mothers in the Catholic Diocese of Auchi, knew no bounds as the Catholic women organization (CWO), marked their 10th anniversary at Immaculate Conception Cathedral, Auchi.

Delivering the homily at the Eucharistic Mass concelebrated with the Vicar General of the Diocese Very Rev. Fr. Isaac Bossey, Rev. Frs. Alfred Ebalu, the Secretary to the Bishop and Martins Enegbuma, the Chaplain CWO, Rev. Fr. (Prof.) John Onimhawo a lecturer at Ambrose Alli University, congratulated the Women on the joyful celebration. He noted that the Diocese as well as all the lay apostolate groups are gradually growing to maturity, stressing that although the CWO in the Diocese has been in existence before the creation of Auchi Diocese, was formally inaugurated by the Bishop of Auchi Diocese, Most Rev. (Dr.) Gabriel Dunia in 2003, adding that since their inauguration, their contribution to the growth and development of the Diocese are commendable.

Continuing, Fr. Onimhawo who hinted that the importance of Women in Church and home cannot be overemphasized, lauded the efforts of the Women in promoting love and unity among themselves, affirming that even in the Bible, they were always with Christ during His earthly ministry, stressing that they have never stopped from doing the work of Christ and describing them as sweet and loving mothers.
The Priest urged mothers to always care for their families, reiterating that they have a major role to play in ensuring a better society. He further admonished them to impact positive ideas on their children and enjoined them not to be deterred in their good works owing to the way the society might categorize, pointing out that God made both man and woman as equals.

Tasking all children to always respect and celebrate their mothers, Fr. Onimhawo urged women not to wait for anyone to empower them, but hence they should learn how to empower themselves financially, physically and otherwise. Also, he charged them not to compromise their personal integrity, as they should impact on the society positively, while enjoining them to influence their family members in to positions of authority to act positively for the growth and development of the society and prayed God to endow them with wisdom, unity and grace to witness more celebration in future.

In her remarks, the Diocesan CWO President, Lady C. Iredia who welcomed all present to the celebration, noted that event was to enable them honour women who have distinguished themselves in their chosen careers and solicited for more support for the completion of ongoing CWO muilti-purpose Hall. She further and enjoined all the Sons and Daughters of the Catholic Diocese both at home and diaspora to contribute to the success of the project and commended those that have contributed to the growth of the organization.

More, Lady Iredia who tasked the Priests in the Diocese to help in sensitizing the women on the need for them to always participate in their event, praised the Chief Shepherd of the Diocese Most Rv. (Dr.) Gabriel G. Dunia for his development stride in the Diocese and thanked him for making the celebration possible.

Giving the vote of thanks, the Chaplain of the Organization Rev. Fr. Martins Enegbuma commended the Bishop for inaugurating the group ten years ago, and appreciated the Vicar general of the Diocese Very Rev. Fr. Isaac Bossey and all Priests present for attending the celebration, while praising the efforts of the women who came from various Parishes, Mass Centres and Outstations for attending the event and prayed God to bless them.

Highpoint of the celebration was a thanksgiving procession by all women present to the altar led by the Diocesan President and her executive, presentation of awards to deserving women who have distinguished themselves in their chosen profession, among others.
