Auchi Diocese Marks 15th Anniversary, Bishop Dunia Clocks 15 years as Bishop
2018-06-04
The joy of Christ’s faithful in the Catholic Diocese of Auchi, knew no bounds as the Diocese marked her 15th Canonical Erection and the Episcopal Ordination of the Bishop Most Rev. Dr. Gabriel G. Dunia on Saturday, 7th April, 2018.
At the Mass of thanksgiving, the Bishop gave the opening remark and welcomed all to the occasion. Rev. Fr. Francis Ikhianosimhe who delivered the homily, welcomed priests, lay faithful and invited guests to the celebration. He noted that there is need to keep giving thanks to God for all He has done and while doing this, there is need to reflect on how the Diocese started many years ago with few Parishes/Mass Centres, with the Bishop whom God ordained exactly fifteen years ago to lead the Diocese to where she is today. The homilist noted that looking at the development that the Diocese has achieved, still boils down to the hard work of the Chief Shepherd who made sure that all the necessary facilities needed for the diocese to grow were created and developed.
The cleric told all that though the Diocese started on a small scale, he noted that with God’s help, she has been able to achieve a lot and that the Lord is still using the Bishop to strengthen the Priests and Lay faithful to know more about God and to always remember that God is great and there is need to give thanks to Him always. He explained that it is not just to give thanks, but to have a total dependence on God at all times and dependence helps every Christian to feel and experience the power of God to carry out more exploits. He charged all to ensure they have total dependence on God in all their endeavors as the Diocese marks the 15th year of her erection and they should always pray for the Bishop to continue to receive God’s inspiration of good Leadership as he celebrates his Episcopal Ordination.
In his remark at the celebration, the Deputy Governor of Edo State, Comrade Philip Shaibu thanked the Priests, Lay faithful and other invited guests for creating time to come for the 15th Anniversary celebration despite their busy schedules, adding that it is a good thing to remember the goodness of God in the lives of the faithful in the Diocese and how He has been there in all her needs. He urged all faithful to support the Diocese to grow more in the propagation of the Gospel.
At the reception, the Bishop who recognized the presence of all Priests and Lay faithful, thanked all for the time they created to celebrate the Diocese at fifteen and admonished them to be regular in giving praises to God as He sees all their labours and will continue to reward them greatly.
Climax of the celebration were the dance entertainment by the Cathedral CWO and Ogbona dance troop among others.
