Bishop Dunia Issues Guidelines, Sets Up COVID-19 Pastoral Response Committee
As part of efforts to ensure the safety of Christ’s Faithful in the Diocese during this period of the Covid-19 pandemic, the Catholic Bishop of Auchi Diocese, Most Rev. Gabriel G. Dunia has issued safety guidelines for liturgical celebrations and also set up a Covid-19 Pastoral Response Team to ensure compliance.
This was made known in a letter written by the Bishop addressed to all Priests, Religious and Lay Faithful of the Diocese where it was emphasized that water, soap and sanitizers must be made available at entrances of all Churches for use by parishioners before and after the Mass. Headded that other safety measures such as prudent use of facemasks, adherence to physical distancing (at least 2 meters) at liturgical celebrations, reception of communion on the hand, avoidance of overcrowding in Churches and celebration of more Masses in order to accommodate the population of parishioners among other guidelines which are to be implemented by Parish Priests and Administrators of Churches and Schools are to be complied with.
In another letter addressed to Rev. Fr. Dr. Martin Alokwe as Head of the newly inaugurated Covid-19 Pastoral Committee, it was established that their responsibilities are to advise the Bishop on issues relating to Covid-19 and the practice of the Catholic faith in the Diocese, suggest strategies to ensure safety of the faithful, update the Bishop on the level of compliance in Schools and Parishes of the Diocese, provide relevant information on other relevant health matters, assist in the establishment of sub-Committees on Parish/Mass Centre level for better coordination and submit monthly reports to the Bishop among other responsibilities.

Joseph Aigbevboile, Rev. Fr. Innocent Asamah, Rev. Fr. DavidAiyedogbon, Rev. Sr. AugustinaAzamegbe SSH, Rev. Sr. Dr. Maureen Agbanu MOPHAS, Dr. Martins Igbonazobi, Matron Margaret Ifijen, Lab. Scientist Gregory Ogbemhe, Catechist Anthony Izobo, Mr. Chris Ighodaro, Mrs. Clara Imimole, Mr. Cecil Olorunda, Mrs. Patience Amanesi, Mr. Okpo James and Miss Cynthia Agwulonu.
